From grades 8-12 I was a Youth Volunteer for the Saskatchewan Health Authority Youth Volunteer Program. Being a volunteer has helped me learn that I am able to make a difference and I have also become familiar with the warm feeling that comes with helping my community. When I was in grade 10, I became a Mentor for the same program. Mentorship was also able to teach me things I never knew about myself before. It helped me establish relationships with others, and was also able to bring out my leadership skills.
For the five years I was a Youth Volunteer, each year I received a 50+ Hour Certificate for my contribution to my community. Two years in a row I was also the recipient of the Spirit Award for my influence as a Mentor. When I was in grade 12 in May 2019, I was also lucky enough to be the recipient of the Hannah Youth Volunteer Bursary. I now know that all my accomplishments have played a major role in my life, and will continue to in the near future.
